SC072-PDS Description

The SC072-PDS is your personal launching pad into the petaflops age. Applications developed on the 72-processor desk side SC072-PDS are good-to-go on the 1458-processor SC1458, the 5832-processor SC5832 and beyond.

Because all SiCortex systems feature totally standard Linux environments, applications borne on SiCortex systems, both now and into the future, are readily ported to the world’s largest supercomputers.

The SiCortex SC072-PDS is the personal version of the SiCortex family of revolutionary HPC computer systems. The system is a complete 72-processor cluster packaged in a whisper-quiet, low-power desk side cabinet using less than 300 watts of power. Each SC072-PDS has a 48-GByte memory system, 2-gigabit Ethernet ports, and up to three (3) optional PCI Express™ cards, each operating at a peak speed of 2 GBytes/sec. The cabinet has space for up to six (6) industry-standard disk drives.

Each of the twelve (12) SC072-PDS nodes is a multi-core chip that contains six (6) processor cores, each operating at 1.4 GFlops, together with all the switch fabric circuits necessary to support interprocessor communications. The nodes are connected in the Kautz topology, which is the hallmark of SiCortex systems.
